The look of today’s post is an intense yet soft makeup. To achieve it I used part of the smoky eyes technique which I’ve learned from the Spanish pro makeup artist María Catalá, also known as www.makeupzone.net. For those who have been around here before, you might remember that I took a makeup class with her last September in Barcelona (read about it here). Since she is the makeup artist I look up to, this is a modest tribute to her. Obviously I didn’t replicate the exact same look and technique. The model had a meeting after the shooting and didn’t want to wear a too dark makeup.

Basically, for the base of the smoky eyes, you use an eye pencil which you put on the back of your hand and which you later pick up with a blending brush (as you would do with an eye shadow). A second option would be to use a dark brown gel liner. I went for the second option because I think it is easier to work with. The point is that you create the base from the lashline up to the brows by blending it from dark (lashline) to your natural skin tone (brow bone).
I used from the TOO FACED Chocolate Bar palette, the eye shadow Black Forest Truffle which is a dark brown with purple pigments in order to contrast a little and do the look a little fancier.
The skin is dewy, as always and as I like it. Some might think it is too much glow, but I must insist on how healthy this type of skin looks. The model has naturally sculpted cheek bones which made the sculpting of the face so much easier. Nevertheless I applied first a hint of NARS Deep Throat blush and secondly a little Shiseido bronzer. And since this look is a tribute to María, I used her favorite highlighter which is Kevyn Aucoin’s Celestial Powder in Candlelight on the highest points of the model’s face.
Concerning the lips, I kept them very natural applying MAC’s Patisserie lipstick. I used a Zoeva #234 brush (which is a brush for the application of the eye shadow) to also create a smoked effect. I did not want to have any harsh lines on the face, so I didn’t apply any lip liner either.
And voilà!
About the video: Since I am not a pro and this being my first video, please excuse the quality of the image. This video tutorial was also a test for me in order to understand who to organize myself, so please don’t be too hard on me. Don’t forget to switch the quality to 720p or to 1080p for high definition.
